The rink is closed, the pool is open, our golf course is back in business, the new walking trail is in use, farmers markets and garage sales are again a regular event and school is almost out for the year.
Hazy Dayz kicks of next weekend with some new additions and changes that are sure to be exciting. Hats off to the group of volunteers who have made it their mission to bring this positive event to our community and to all the participants and attendees that make it worthwhile. Watch for our Canada Day event as well.
We have been made aware that there are a larger than normal number of bears in the area. I urge you to use caution when walking, golfing, biking and hiking in heavily treed areas as this is where they are sure to be found. They are a common sight in the valley these days but sightings near town have been reported as well, please be cautious.
This is the last newsletter until fall and in October there is municipal elections across the province. Now is the time to consider nominating someone or running yourself. It’s is a very challenging but rewarding career and new faces are always welcome. I recently talked to the grade three class about the procedures of council and that captive young audience renewed my energy and purpose as a representative of our community. Everyone of us has something to offer this community, if you think you have the drive and passion to make a difference and are willing to let your name stand talk to myself or any one of our councillors about how to get involved.
Enjoy your summer, wherever your plans may take you.
