Churchbridge received the $10,000 grand prize and a plaque today as a result of winning the Go Out and Play Challenge earlier this year.
Twenty communities and five community associations registered for this year’s challenge, put on by Saskatchewan in Motion and Saskatchewan Blue Cross. Participants rallied friends, family and neighbours to log their physical activity in support of community projects that inspire active outdoor play. Projects included building splash parks, purchasing outdoor play equipment, building BMX bike/skate parks and revitalizing playground equipment, among many others.
Churchbridge logged 395,813 minutes of physical activity during the ten-day challenge to capture the win and the $10,000.
Today, Kendall Longtin, Community Relations Specialist with Saskatchewan in Motion, was at the Credit Union BBQ in the rink to make the presentation. The money will go towards the creation of an outdoor sport court central to the school, arena and pool. The facility will be accessible to everyone.
