After a stunning series of musical, vocal and verse performances over the last few weeks by singers, bands, soloists and speakers, the 47th Annual Potashville Music Festival came to a conclusion on Sunday, March 20, with the Final Concert and Awards Gala in Langenburg.

With a good-sized crowd of proud parents, relatives and friends in attendance, the young people took their opportunity to be in the limelight one final time for this year’s event, either performing or receiving awards, or doing both.

The event kicked off with the playing of O Canada by Shannon McIntyre. Then, performances took place from Amelia Drader, Taiya Sauser, Skye Miller and Kelsey and Jennica Roulston. These performances included piano, trumpet and solo poetry, following which the first round of awards were presented for voice and verse.

As the first award recipients went off to get their pictures taken for The Four Town Journal newspaper, a second set of performances came from Madison Werle, Brianna Robert, Amy Yanke and Kadence Banga. Once again these encompassed a variety of instruments, from flute to saxophone, and from piano to voice. The band and string awards followed.

The final performances of the afternoon came from Anna Tanchyk, Robyn and Chrissy Powers, Jordan Junek and Hope Werle, after which the piano awards were presented, and the announcements concerning the rising star award recommendations were given.
