Yorkton Terriers hold their Annual Sportsmen’s Dinner

On Saturday, February 13, following a fast-paced game of hockey against the Melville Millionaires, the Yorkton Terriers held their annual Sportsmen’s Dinner  in the Flexi Hall at the Gallagher Centre.

With approximately 400 people in attendance, the event combined cocktails, supper, horse races, a live auction, presentations from guest speakers and a comedian.

Master of Ceremonies was Yorkton-born Trevor Secundiak, a Yorkton Terrier Alumni and former professional hockey player in the Southern Professional Hockey League in Florida. Guest speaker was NHL veteran Dennis Polonich who was the former captain of the Detroit Red Wings, and former manager of Prince George Cougars and the Medicine Hat Tigers. Sharing the bill with him was comedian Ken Hicks.

Included within the auctioned items (both silent and live) were a “From Yorkton with love” package of $500 worth of gift certificates from businesses around the city, a portrait package, a one night stay at Ramada Regina, and a number of autographed jerseys including a Bobby Orr Team Canada framed example.

A great evening, combining fun, friendship and sporting purpose.
