Last Saturday, approximately 40 music and art aficionados gathered at Jocelyn’s Fine Art Gallery in Esterhazy, to enjoy an amazing evening of Roots and Blues music by one of Canada’s Finest, as Juno Award winner Ken Hamm made a special appearance in the town.
Ken has been touring since 1978 and has been critically acclaimed for both his stellar guitar playing, and his original songs that reflect his rural west coast life. He was awarded a Juno for Best Roots & Traditional CD, and has been nominated for Recording of the Year on more than once occasion, and also Best Acoustic Act of the Year by the Toronto Blues Society. Additionally, he was also nominated three years running as Best Acoustic Blues Guitarist by North America’s “Guitar Player” magazine.
Between Ken’s two acts, Heather Peat Hamm, the current guest artist at the gallery, read three poems from her book “Blue Grama”. The crowd was mesmerized with Heather’s descriptions and story telling. Heather is a prairie ecologist by training and prairie advocate by heart. Her art will be for sale and viewing at Jocelyn’s Fine Art Gallery until March 14th.
Commenting on the event, Jocelyn Duchek said “This is the best concert we’ve had. People are already asking when we’re going to have Ken Hamm come back.” Should he indeed plan a return visit to this area, we shall let you know!
