PJ Gillen school receives donation from Lions

On the evening of Monday, January 11, PJ Gillen School received a donation from the Esterhazy and District Lions Club. The presentation took place at the first Lions meeting of the year, held in Council Chambers at Esterhazy Town Office.

Gillen School’s Principal, Kelsey Shields, received cheques totaling $6,000 from Lions Dan Babyak and Harold Esslinger. The donation comes as a result of the popular wine fest which the Lions held as a fundraiser on November 7 last year, (see report and pictures of that event HERE).

The funds will be put towards the painting of the school hallways. Latest on the school gymnasium is that it should be completed after the February break, and we also hear the heating system is now good.

  1. super job LIONS but also many thanks to Principal Shields and all the teachers and some parents that helped make the wine fest a success as the Lions could not do this big event alone
