Each generation comes out with its own words, and this always leaves “people of a certain age” wondering what the heck they are on about.
The word “Selfie” might have that impact on some readers, but for a younger generation, brought up in the high-tech world of smartphones and the internet, the word “Selfie” is as common as the word “Timmies.” Simply put, if you turn your smartphone camera in your own direction and take a picture, your impromptu self portrait is a “Selfie.”
And that leads us nicely into the new “My CU Selfie” contest being run by Saskatchewan’s Credit Unions from October 5th to October 16.
Contest entrants can enter by submitting a Selfie that depicts something their Credit Union has helped them with or helped them achieve. For example, if the Credit Union helped with a mortgage to purchase their first home, entrants should submit a Selfie in front of their new home. Similarly, if the Credit Union helped with a student loan to attend University, then entrants should submit a Selfie in their graduation cap and gown.
Selfies must be submitted via Twitter with the hashtag #MyCUSelfie. By submitting their Selfie, entrants automatically accept and consent to the Contest Rules that appear in the PDF HERE.
