As these words are typed in Stockholm, Hazy Dayz 2015 is drawing to a close in Esterhazy with the fireworks display beside the lake.
The weekend event was well-attended and greatly enjoyed, even if it did have its fair share of wet weather. Friday saw the market at the museum, the beer gardens, the GX Star Search semi-finals, the Warriors Alumni football game, and the family dance. The weather ranged from nice in the morning, to a major thunderstorm in the evening. Indeed, the storm took out power across town for about half an hour at night, and it almost turned the football game into a water sport. But the fun went on into the wee small hours on Main Street regardless.
Saturday witnessed a ton of activities. From the pancake breakfast and parade in the morning, through to the all-day entertainment and demonstrations on Main Street, the slow pitch tournament in the regional park ball diamonds, car show, science centre presentations, and the inflatable bouncers. Once again the weather was an interesting mix of superb sunshine with blue skies, right through to rain. But, both the fun and the Hazy Blaze continued.
And talking about Hazy Blaze, that was all new this year! And kudos to Big Lou’s for putting this thing together. It’s a fine new addition to Hazy Dayz, and will hopefully become a tradition! In fact, well done to every supporting business and enthusiastic volunteer in creating and presenting a fine vintage year of summer fun.
