There’s certainly some interest around town in the first ever HAZY BLAZE, the cook-off that will launch this year as part of Hazy Dayz. But now it’s time for intended grillers to confirm their interest with a firm reservation.
The closing date for booking your $25 spot is June 10, and the reason this is necessary is simple, the organizers need to know how much meat will be needed, and also how many collector’s item custom hats they’ll need to order. So, please don’t leave it too late, get in touch with Big Lou’s this week if you intend to be part of this historical, fun-filled event.
The cook-off itself will take place on Saturday June 20 in the beer gardens on Main Street. Participants in HAZY BLAZE must bring their own grill, sauces, utensils, and propane gas bottles, but the meat will be donated by local businesses.
Check in time is between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and Judging of the ribs will take place at 4:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity for spectators to purchase tickets during the day to enjoy sample ribs after the judging!
We’ll release more information about the event closer to the reservation cut-off date, but for now we encourage as many businesses to put up a grilling team as possible, or clubs, associations or families. Let’s fill Main Street with that BBQ aroma, and make the day hazy indeed!
