Skate Esterhazy presented their version of “The Muppet Show” today. Whacky costumes and well-known musical numbers combined with superb skating, creating a veritable feast of nostalgic entertainment for all ages.
While the younger skaters typically came out in groups, the more accomplished performers brought their own solo acts onto the ice. Included in the list of talented locals were Kaydence Banga, Randell Banga, Marty Haubrich, Sara Heise, Justin Kacsmar, Braida Lenouail, Brenna Nagy, Andelina Romanchook and Madison Tocher.
For one skater, the event was bittersweet. Long-time favourite Justin Kacsmar, has performed on the ice since he was five years old. Today was his 20th birthday, and he announced that he is retiring from skating to concentrate on his further education and career. He was honoured for his contribution to local skating by his fellow skaters, and he will clearly be missed.
Enjoy the mega gallery of pictures below. Unfortunately the use of yellow and red filters on already low-powered spotlights, severely limited photographic coverage of many of the faster-paced solo acts. When the full lights were up, things were much better.. Anyway, we tried!
