Welcome to March. The High School Orientation Night will be held on Wednesday, March 11, in the Band room at 7:00 pm. This is an important event for grade 9 students and their parents to attend. Ms. LeSann, our career counsellor, will give an overview of the high school requirements for graduation, and explain how students should plan for post-secondary options. We will present a refresher on the math and science pathways (and handle any other questions) to current grade 10 students at 2pm (TAG period) on March 17th. Then we will do the same for the grade 11 students at 2pm (TAG period) on March 19th. Parents are welcome to attend. If you cannot make it, you are encouraged to call the school if you have any questions.
High school students will soon be choosing their classes for next year. Please spend some time with your children to decide upon course options and electives. Our timetable is based upon these choices. If a lot of students change their minds after the timetable is made, they may not get the courses they want because these classes may already be full. Post-secondary plans rely on these choices as well. If you have any questions, or are looking for advice in this area, please talk with me or Ms. LeSann.
Activity Day is on March 18. Activities include skiing/boarding/tubing at Assessippi, ice fishing at Round Lake, swimming at the Gallagher Centre in Yorkton, bowling, and gym activities at school. Thank you to Mr. Daniel for the massive organization this requires.
The grade 6 students will participate in the GSSD Standards Meet in Yorkton March 11. The Showcase Meet for event winners will be held on Friday, March 13. If you get a chance, this is something I would recommend watching your children participate. It is quite the spectacle. This all takes place at the Gallagher Centre Flexi Hall.
That is all for now. As always, my door is open.
